Akbaruddin Owaisi, leader of AIMIM, said his life was threatened and 11 people from different parts of the country arrived in Hyderabad to "kill" him.
Addressing a public meeting on Friday, Mr. Akbaruddin said that he had received "threatening" letters and phone calls from some people, saying that they would kill him.
"Again, they say they're going to kill … I've received letters and phone calls stating that Akbar Owaisi … we'll kill you."
He said he learned from reports that 11 people from Banaras, Allahabad and Karnataka had arrived in the city to kill him.
"I am ready to die. I'm ready to shoot myself in the chest and not in the back, "said Mr. Akbaruddin, who ran in the Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency for the December 7 assembly polls. .
He recalled the incident of April 30, 2011, while he had been attacked by a group of people here with sharp weapons and guns near the MIM office in Barkas.
"I have not been killed in spite of three bullets – will your bullets kill me?" Said the younger brother of AIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
Referring to the plot to "kill him" in May 2014, Akbaruddin claimed that "attackers" had arrived from Bengaluru to carry out this task.
In May 2014, Karnataka police reportedly defeated a plot to kill Akbaruddin, after which four people were arrested.
Reacting to Akbaruddin's assertions, a senior police official said he had received no complaints in this regard.
However, candidates and campaign candidates were sufficiently secure as planned.
