The Boise Helitack was selected as one of the recipients of the Paul Gleason Award for example by example. Three people and a group from the entire forest fire department were selected to receive this national award.

The award was created by the NWCG Executive Committee to recognize Paul Gleason's contributions to the Forest Fire Service. During a career of five decades, Paul was a passionate student of fire, a fire teacher and a firefighter leader. The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals or groups who share the same spirit and who embody the values and principles of forest fire leadership. Boise Helitack's work in support of Wildland Fire's leadership development program has been a testament to initiative and innovation.

Boise Helitack has been recognized for his leadership in implementing the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk program in the initial attack environment. The team's constant vision and motivation to see the program reach its full potential despite delays and challenges is the pinnacle of resilience. Thanks to their initiative and innovation, a new aeronautical firefighting platform is on the horizon for the entire forest fire service.
