Larsen & Toubro (L & T), a leading infrastructure specialist, said Monday that its power company has signed a "significant" order from NTPC for the establishment of a flue gas desulphurization system at the super thermal power plant in Vindhyachal, Madhya Pradesh.
L & T received an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the establishment of a flue gas desulphurization system at the Vindhyachal Thermal Power Plant in Phase I and II (6 x 210 megawatts (MW) and 2 x 500 MW), the company said a BSE deposit.
This follows the order received for Phase III 0 IV (2×500 MW 0 2×500 MW) in September of last year, he added.
The company did not indicate the value of the contracts, but stated that the orders fell into the "significant" category, which was between Rs 1,000 and 2,500 crores, according to its contract classification.
L & T said the installation of FGD systems in existing and future thermal power plants had been made mandatory by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Indian Government, so to reduce SO2 emissions.
L & T's shares were trading at 0.31% and R2929 respectively at BSE.
